Camp Directors

Paul and Trisha Ludwig - Uncle Paul, son of Tom Ludwig, lives in Connecticut with his family. He teaches marine biology at Greenwich High School. Paul hires the staff and counselors and oversees all aspects of the summer camp program. As the camp director, he supervises the staff, counselors, and campers. Paul has a bachelor’s degree in biology from Central Michigan University and master’s degree in education from Ferris State University.

Aunt Trisha is a registered nurse and practices as a nurse-midwife in Connecticut. She has been at Bil-O-Wood for over twenty years as a camper, counselor and director. Trisha has directed the canoe tripping, the waterfront and our health services programs in different years at Bil-O-Wood. Trisha has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and her nursing and nurse-midwife degrees from Yale University.

Together Paul and Trisha represent the fourth generation of the Ludwig family operating Camp Bil-O-Wood and will be the leaders for many years in the future. They have two young children Lola Brie and Ruby June and the camp dog, Boot. Email Uncle Paul

Marketing Director

Jim and Diann Ludwig – Jim Jr., Marketing Director, and Diann coordinate new camper recruiting. They live in Pennsylvania but travel during the off season throughout the east coast visiting with current and prospective families. Uncle Jim directs the marketing program for Bil-O-wood and keeps in touch with our ever-growing alumni. He and Aunt Diann are in camp at the beginning and the end of each Bil-O-Wood season.

Jim attended the University of Michigan and Diann attended Eastern Michigan University and received her bachelor’s degree in education from Kutztown State University. Prior to her recent retirement she taught fourth grade and kindergarten for over 35 years. Email Uncle Jim

Camp Photographer and Administrative Support

Gary and Mary Ludwig –Live in Virginia and return to camp at the end of each summer to provide support for camp’s extensive closing ceremonies. Gary has led many of camp’s major canoe trips to James Bay. He is a graduate of Lake Superior State University and Mary received her bachelor’s degree from Spring Arbor College and her master’s degree from Old Dominion University. She has been teaching for 30+ years.

Data Base and Camper Account Coordinators

Jim and Kristin Ludwig – Jim III, coordinates all camper accounts and he and Kristin keep the camp database current. They also provide electronic support from the database and other Bil-O-Wood files as well as support in visitations to prospective camp families on the east coast. They are both graduates of Penn State University and live in Pennsylvania. They have two boys, Jim IV and Andy, who will soon be part of the summer program.

Mid-West Recruiting and Transportation Coordinators

Tom and Jennifer Ludwig – Tom and Jenn live in Michigan and spend time during the winter visiting prospective camp families and coordinating Bil-O-Wood open houses in the mid-west. Jennifer coordinates all camp summer transportation issues. Tom is a grad of Ferris State University and Jenn graduated from the University of Iowa. They have two children, Madeline and Wil, who also will be campers soon.
