The Ludwig family founded Camp Bil-O-Wood in 1946. Today the camp is guided by third and fourth generation family members. The fifth generation is underway and growing (eight grandchildren).

Over the past sixty years ten of the immediate Ludwig family has participated in various levels of education from kindergarten to college. Together they have almost 200 cumulative years teaching young people. It was with the desire to provide the best for children that Camp Bil-O-Wood was founded and it is with this dedication that each summer we continue to have many of our staff and counselors who have chosen to devote their professional lives to educating the young.

Although Bil-O-Wood is owned and directed by the Ludwig family, each year the camp staff and counselors provide on an average of 200 to 250 years of combined Bil-O-Wood experience to guide our campers. Our leaders are responsible for directing programs, supervising activities and being the parent of each cabin. At Bil-O-Wood, we are committed to both safety and guidance.

We maintain a camper to counselor ratio of 4 to1.
