Outdoor Living and Wilderness Canoe Tripping
Outdoor Living and Wilderness Canoe Tripping are for those campers who are ready to have fun, adventure and life in the outdoors. This activity is a big part of life at Bil-O-Wood. There is no better place to learn about you and to develop the teamwork skills needed for living life, than in the wilderness of Ontario. As your skill grows so does your ability to share what you have learned with others. In time you become the teacher and the leader.

Canoe tripping is an optional activity at Bil-O-Wood however about 90% of all campers participant in our outdoor living and canoe tripping programs, at some level.
We start by teaching the youngest campers how to truly enjoy camping under the stars, cooking over a wood fire and exploring the crystal, clear lakes of Ontario. At first they may only camp out a night or two at a time.

As campers grow in experience and physical strength they are able to take 4 to 5 day trips.
By the time they reach high school age many of them are traveling for 10 to 12 days at a time across lakes and rivers of Ontario into the Artic watershed and James Bay.

Nothing helps a person know and understand themselves as well as living with Mother Nature in the great outdoors. We have thousands of Bil-O-Wood campers who would agree.

In Camp Athletics and Aquatics

When in camp the activities at Bil-O-Wood are many. The daily program is divided into two major areas. During the first day or two of camp campers select from Athletics or Aquatics for their morning activity. They also choose a specific activity within the major group (i.e., Athletics – Baseball, tennis, soccer, etc. or Aquatics – Sailing, swimming, water skiing, etc). This enables them to develop their skills in a specific area.
Campers may periodically change their selection as they desire or as time permits. For the afternoon activity our program director assigns cabin group activities. In this way every camper will have an opportunity to try most of our activities at least once or twice during their time at camp.
Athletics/Sports

The athletic program at Camp Bil-O-Wood has been a major part of our tradition for over 60 years. Our facilities are among the best in Ontario and include two basketball courts, two volleyball courts, a weight training pavilion, a baseball field, three tennis courts, a full size soccer field, an all sports field, and tumbling mats.
Bil-O-Wood does not focus on one particular sport or sports; instead we provide specialized instruction based on the desires and needs of the campers. Each year we customize our staff to meet these desires and often offer mini-camps to provide extra special instruction in the most wanted areas.

The diversity of our facilities and our program provide campers with an excellent training ground for self-improvement in any sport. Many of our athletes have experienced very successful high school and even college careers in their focused sport, while most of our campers just enjoy the opportunity of just participating in these activities during their summer.

Aquatics / Waterfront

The Bil-O-Wood property is surrounded by three spring-fed, clear, fresh water lakes. This allows campers to experience the finest water conditions that any camp anywhere can provide for swimming, boating, canoeing, skiing, tubing and fishing.
Safety around the water has always been the highest of priorities for the Bil-O-Wood staff. Each camper must complete a performance test at the start of their session to establish their skill level and ensure their safety. Special training is provided to those who need to learn to swim. The Bil-O-Wood staff is trained in Life Saving and CPR.
